Hollowecho slipped down the pebbly path, and jumped, landing on the sandy beach. He was so used to the trail after all these moons, it was nothing for him to climb up and down. He looked back. "Lightningstrike, you coming?"

"Here, I'm here," he replied, sounding almost bored as he scrambled down a ways down, having stopped for a peak at his old den. Bounding over, he stood facing Hollowecho. Inhaling deeply, he filtered out the salt scent, as he was accustomed, and searched for near birds, as the scent of fish was hard to catch.

"Hungry for seagulls today?" he called, scanning the beach with his sea-green gaze. "Take your pick: silver ones, black ones, brown ones," he purred. "Or shall we battle the ocean? Or both!"

"Does it make a difference?" he replied, amused. "They all taste exactly the same."

"The birds? Not really. As long as they are big and plump-ish, I couldn't care less," Hollowecho purred. "So birds, is it? Sick of fish already?"

"If I was sick of fish at this point," mewed Lightningstrike, "I would have been sick of fish seasons ago. I'm just not in the mood just now." His amber eyes shone with good humor as he turned away, fixing his gaze down the shore, to where a flock of gulls were attacking some dead corpse.

(ew. shudders. nothing of significance, i hope? dead fish or something)
Hollowecho chuckled, "Okay, okay. I believe you, I was just checking." He turned his head, studying their intended prey. He sank into a crouch and whispered, "Shall we charge on the count of three? One... two..."

ooc: That's what I figured.
bic: "Three," breathed Lightningstrike, shooting off on swift, sweeping paws, unsettling sand, but not thumping on it. Conditioned muscles did not protest the difficult of racing through sand along the beach. The flock of gulls rose in a cawing, screeching beating of wings, revealing the particularly large dead fish. With a twisting leap, the tom sprang into the air, gripping the muscles at the head of the tail of a white gull. He came down, pinning the bird to sand and glanced around as it struggled, watching for the other cat to spring for a gull or two of his own.

Hollowecho leaped a heartbeat after Lightningstrike, latching onto a seagull's tail with his teeth, and snatching one other with his claws. He landed lightly on the sand, and quickly killed the birds, clawing the one's throat and dropping the other, and slashed it too. He spat out a feather, and nodded at his friend. "Well, that was fun. Now, I guess we fish! You're better at that than me."

Lightningstrike killed his gull with a quick bite to the neck after Hollowecho neatly dispatched the two birds, realizing that he had yet to take its life. The tom shrugged. "Sure," he replied.
ooc: So how are they going to catch fish out of the ocean? I've been thinking about it, and I'm not sure yet.

(lol THAT im not sure myself. there has to be a way. In the shallows, you would have to chase them though. it might take two cats, one to chase them and another to wait for the fish and to pounce. Or you could swim out and go under water, but salt would burn your eyes and taste gross... can you pounce on a fish? lol pounce and dive?) "Show a little expression once in awhile, wouldn't you?" Hollowecho teased. "I know we're former loners and all, but we can have a good time too! This is fun to me. Not as much of a challenge as it used to be, but fun."

Lightningstrike purred, amused by the other cat. "I do show emotion, Hollowecho. I just often show my aloofness rather than amusement or anger." He waded into the water, until the tides washed over his back. He searched, eyes narrow as spray leapt up, searching for one of the fish.

"Huh, but I'll bet I'm the only cat who does," muttered Hollowecho. But he followed the other cat into the ocean, the water darkening his pelt to silver. It was a bit cool, but he so soothing... The scent of salt was very strong, like his favorite perfume washing all over him. (so/... how they doing this? lol )
