"I'm better at fighting than hunting, which is the opposite for Jetpaw. She's always been the better hunter. I'm the more peaceful one of us, I guess, but I'm better at the fighting than anything else." Lionpaw shrugged. "Ironic, I guess."

"Well I can't guarantee you'll be better than your sister at hunting if your main strength is fighting, but we'll still make you one of the best. Peaceful is good, there's not much to work on there. you know when to fight, when to give it all, and when the time comes, I know you will. What about fishing? I'm guessing that might be a bit tricky. Do you like getting your paws wet?" mewed Hollowecho. He was a bit amused by that. From his perspective, he couldn't find anything ugly or harsh about the ocean. Sure, it could be dangerous, but you needed to learn its ways, how it flowed, its push and pull. It was something you couldn't fight, just accept and go with it, work with it. But not all the cats had lived around the water, so their pelts might not be so sleek and shed water so easily.

"I grew up in ShadowClan. When it rained, the ground got wet and muddy. We might as well have been MarshClan. The other Clans always told their kits that we had webbed feet because of our territory, and once an apprentice decided to come and ask to see my feet." Lionpaw smirked. "I told him the only time he'd see my paws was when they tore his pelt up when we met in battle."

Hollowecho purred. "So, I guess you're a master frog catcher, but fishing might need work. Whatever happened to those other Clans you left behind? Do you think they are still there?" he mewed suddenly. It didn't bother him at all, but he had heard many Clan cats ask that same question and wondered what Lionpaw thought.

"I'm sure they are. The warrior code isn't just something you can ditch overnight, not when you've grown up with it around you. The cats that stayed might have formed their own Clans by now. It'd be hard to be all together like they suggested." Lionpaw thought back to when ShadowClan and RiverClan had been combined. It was hard. The leaders had expected everything to go smoothly, and the warriors tried to obey, but the old rivalry was still there.

"Well, I guess there is no sure way of knowing. Unless someone walked the long journey back, but that be kind of silly and pointless," Hollowecho mewed, then sighed. "Rivalry is everyone, isn't it?"

"It's our way of life," Lionpaw shrugged. He didn't really know any other way.

Hollowecho frowned. This sounded barbaric, but really, they were more civilized than that. (sounds like pplz. are we really?) (sigh. Flightstar is GONE! )

(We think we're civilized, but we're no better than the cannibalistic animals of the world.)
