Bronzekit was curled up in a tiny ball, asleep in the nursery. The bramble roof above him whispered in the breeze, and shifted a bit, allowing a ray of moonlight to fall upon him. As the kit slept, he dreamed.
He was racing along the beach. Seagulls screeched and cried at him, rising to the sky on silver wings to avoid him. The waves lapped the shore, tugging playfully at his paws. He touched a pebble with his paw, then bent his head to pick it up. Swinging his head, it let it fly sideways, and watched it skip a few times across the water before sinking out of sight.
"Bronzekit!" called a gentle voice. The tom-kit looked up at the sight. He saw something shimmering and golden along the cliff. He turned towards it. The cliff had sunk a bit there, and a winding, pebbly path led from the shore up to the top of the cliff. The little tom bounded towards it. He knew he could climb the steep trail, and that it would lead him to camp. Before before he was a two taillengths up, he noticed an opening in the cliffside along the trail. A den of some sort, leading down. The light pulsed from it, brighter and brighter. Curious, he padded towards it, his paws slipping a bit down the trail. He smelled frost and sky, which was strange coming from a dark, underground. At the bottom of the tunnel the den opened up. It was a little stone hollow, and bits of moss were scattered on the floor. Before him was the glowing creature, a golden tabby cat. Her eyes were the colore of the sea, shining warm and friendly.
"Welcome to the Mooncave, little Bronzekit. I have been waiting - StarClan has been waiting. I am Goldensea, the_"
"You were TideClan's first medicine cat!' Bronzekit mewed excitedly.
The starry warrior purred. "Yes, I was. And you will be the next one."
The kit gasped. "Really? That's great! I mean, but how? I have noone to teach me."
"You're wrong there. You have me. I will teach you. From this moment forward, I will always walk beside you. I will be there in the forest, helping you find and identify herbs. Behind you when you are treating a patient, and whisper words of encouragement and advice in your ear. And each halfmoon when you come to share dreams with StarClan, I will greet you along with the other warriors who walked before you. This is your destiny, Bronzekit, do you accept it?"
'I do," whispered Bronzekit, emerald eyes glowing. His voice was solemn and true, but he trembled with excitement and joy.
Goldensea purred again, then faded into darkness, his golden light lingering a heartbeat longer.
"Wait! Come back!" cried Bronzekit, as darkness slammed upon him. He opened his eyes, and blinked against the harsh light streaming into the den. "Flightstar! I needed to talk to Flightstar!"
