(Okay, I am making this all up, by the way. There is no healing herb I know of called a Starflower.)
Honeyflower - a golden-brown tabby she-cat with amber eyes, medicine cat of ThunderClan. Founder of the herb, starflower, a five-petaled blue flower with almost magical abilities.
Swiftleap - black-and-white tom with beautiful, pale blue eyes, warriof of WindClan.
----------
The full moon shone directly about the clearing of fourtrees, turning each leaf, twig, and branch on the old oaks to unearthly silver. Beneath one of the trees sat a lone cat, hidden in the silver shadows, perfectly still. The only thing that gave her away were her golden eyes, gleaming in the darkness.
She knew she shouldn't be here. It went against every rule, law, every moral she stood for. But she couldn't help it. When she had said, "I do", sealing the deal between her and StarClan to give her life and soul in the service of her Clan, well, she didn't realize then what they were asking her, how much she had to give up. She had met him at her first gathering as a true medicine cat, donning her new, full warrior name. His eyes, such a beautiful blue that rivaled the sky, she had felt drawn to him the moment she saw him. He must have felt the same, for he soon padded over, introduced himself, and drew her into a conversation. Their small talk really didn't much, they hadn't discussed anything significant or serious, pretty much how prey was running and such. But as the Clans split up, each warrior gathering around their own leader to return back home, Swiftleap whispered in her ear, "Meet me here at midnight, tomorrow."
Honeyflower nodded, and turned around, hurrying back to her mentor and Clan.
And so they did meet that next night, and many more after that. It had been love at first sight, and they couldn't fight it. All they could do was obey, and meet again the next night.
They had been meeting for about three moons, slipping away every couple of nights. A half-moon ago Swiftleap had come right out and said he loved her. How her heart had soared at the depth of emotion in his eyes! She knew it was true, and felt the same. But since that night, the guilt had finally caught on. This was wrong. She didn't want it too end, she felt she loved him too much, but she had to make it right. Her Clan deserved that much.
A black-and-white shadow appeared on the edge of the clearing, and Honeyflower sprang to her paws and raced to meet him. They tenderly touched noses, their tails twined. They had been two halves that by some miracle had met and become one.
"My sweet Honeyflower," whispered Swiftleap. "My heart's been throbbing ever minute that we've been apart. Now that we are together again, I feel whole once more."
Honeyflower purred, not a laughing amused purr, but a blissful delighted one. She felt the same way. They stood together, each breathing in the other's sweet scenting, taking comfort in the feel of each other's soft fur, united once more. After several moments, Honeyflower broke away, a serious look in her amber eyes as she met Swiftleap's blue ones.
"I've been thinking..." she began, and hesitated, suddenly nervous.
"About what, my precious Honeyflower?" his warm tongue rasped against her ear, relaxing her slightly. "You can tell me anything."
"I need to go to the Moonstone," she murmered.
Swiftleap looked at her, confused. "Okay. Well, you're a medicine cat. What's stopping you? You can go there anytime you want."
"I'm going to ask them if I can still be a medicine cat," she whispered, looking away. But Swiftleap sidestepped and gently flicked her chin with his tail, pleading her to meet his gaze. "Why do you say that? Of course you're supposed to be a medicine cat. It's your dream, and what you do best. In fact, you're probably the best medicine cat in the whole for-!"
"No I'm not!" Honeyflower snapped, instantly regretting it seeing the hurt in his eyes. "I mean, look at us. This is wrong. I'm a medicine cat, I shouldn't be here."
"But it feels so right," murmered Swiftleap. "We're following our hearts, surely there's nothing wrong with that?"
"I'm not sure, but I need to speak with our warrior ancestors. I need to hear what they want me to do. Follow my heart, or be a medicine cat..."
"Being a medicine cat is following your heart. And so is loving me. Why must you chose?" pleaded Swiftleap. "Why must one be wrong and the other right?"
"It's the way it is, Swiftleap. We're warriors, and that's our code. If we don't follow it, then, well, we're not really warriors. Please, understand, Swiftleap. I have to do this," Honeyflower mewed quietly.
"I do understand. I only hope they give you an answer you can live with," Swiftleap mewed sadly. Sorrow pierced her heart. Oh she loved him so much! What if her choice caused him grief and heartbreak? But she had to obey StarClan, even if it was her last duty as a medicine cat. What she really didn't want to think about was which she wanted more: to be a medicine cat or to be with Swiftleap. She would simply listen to what her ancestors had to say. She leaned forward, to touch noses good-bye but he shook his head.
"Oh no, I'm going with you," he decided. "If it's going to be good-bye, you can say it there."
(ill finish this later. she goes to the moonpool where they tell her to follow her heart. she's furious, and leaves, telling swiftleap they simply didnt dream with her. he's askes why and she shrugs, and decides to keep things the same for now, shes a medicine cat and still loves him. she dreams that night, of her mother telling her about this plant called the starflower...)
