Lakefrost was leading a patrol, padding along the border. The usually cheerful and joking warrior was awfully quiet today. He gazed across the WindClan border, remembering the fire a few nights ago. The forest still smelled of burnt ash yet. He was thinking about Wolftooth, the prickly warrior who had been his mentor. Though the two had been opposites, they had been close, like most mentors and apprentices. They had been there for each other, and journeyed to ThunderClan together. Lakefrost had adapted better than the older warrior, but still... all he needed was time. In the end, he had gone out nobly, saving a ThunderClan apprentice by sacrificing himself. That was a good warrior in his book. One new star shone brightly in the skies.

Brightstar came out of a bush caring a blackbird. She sat down next to lakefrost. Looking up to the stars with him. "He was a grand warrior, perhaps a bit gumpy, but is more a warrior than I was." She smiled. She always said nice things about her fallen warriors, but this time it wasent for pity she really meant it.

Lakefrost turned his head, nodding respectfully to his leader, and smiled. "Thanks, Brightstar. Although he wouldn't admit it, I think he sort of liked it here. And in the end, he proved he had some loyalty to his new Clan and they home you gave us. Thank you for THAT, as well. This is a Clan worthy of true warriors, and I'm glad to be a part of it. You're a great leader, too." (lol she has a shadowclanish streak but he didn't say that.)

Brightstar smiled. "We all make up a clan, and we all make up a family even if we are in separate clans." She stopped her self. "We are all kits of a kin to starclan." She had said that when she was deputy, but it still made since.

"Some cats will disagree with you, but not me. Borders separate us, and our different names separated us. ShadowClan, ThunderClan... now we'll all just ONE Clan, and with the borders gone, it shows how alike we really are. We all came from one, and when we die, we become once more again. It's a cycle. That's why I stayed here. That's what a true warrior is all about. We're alike because we all believe in StarClan and following the warrior code. I'm not the brightest cat, Brightstar, but I have always been faithful and tried to follow our warrior ancestors' wishes. The Clans like here, not anywhere else. That's all I know."

Brightstar smiled . Thats all she did. In truth she had nothing to say. The warrior was right, and she had nothing to add.

"Well, then," Lakefrost rose to his paws. "I guess we should finish up here, huh?"

He shook his head to clear it, and froze at the sound of his leader's struggles. "Brightstar? Hold on, I'm coming!" he raced over, skidding to a halt. "What the? What is this think?" He bit it, but it didn't rip or break.

"I'm not leaving you behind!" spat Lakefrost, his tone fierce. Fear shone in his blue eyes. He sprang up and batted and clawed at it some more. "Maybe... I think I can knock it down! I'm not abandoning you, Brightstar!" He had already been left by his last leader, who ahd betrayed the warrior code.

Brightstar ran up a tree, and when Lakefrost passed she picked the heavy warrior up by his scruff. She set him on a brach.
