The dawn light seeped into the den as Rivershadow woke, blinking sleep from his eyes and pulling himself to his paws. His pelt was a mess, sticking every which way with bits of moss, as he yawned loudly. "Isn't it great in this den?" he whispered to the warriors around him, his denmates from the apprentice days - they had all been made warriors together. "It's bigger and roomy!" "And noisy..." grumbled Iriswhisker, curling into a tighter ball. A blue eye peeked at the young tom, looking a bit annoyed himself, which was unusual for Lakefrost. Then Rivershadow remembered - Lakefrost had been up all night on guard. Rivershadow ducked his head, embarrassed. "Sorry," he muttered, and slipped out of the den. (I was working towards him asking Sparrowwing to hunt with him )

(Em Kay . ) SparrowWing streached out in her nest. She blinked her eyes open, and smiled, happy that the first thing she saw that day was RiverShawdow. When he left the den SparrowWing hurried after him. "Morning." she purred.

Rivershadow whipped around, startled. But he relaxed in an instant, realizing who it was. In fact, his pelt prickled with pleasure. "Good morning, Sparrowwing. Sleep well?"

Rivershadow was rather taken aback by this gesture of affection, but it reassured him and soothed his fears. He purred happily, watching her pad gracefully across the clearing. "Would you like to go hunting with me this afternoon?" he called after her.

Rivershadow came bolting out of camp, sighing huffily. He caught sight of Sparrowwing and switched directions, heading a course towards her. "Sorry I'm late. At the last minute Longwhiskers asked me to fetch him some fresh-kill. I usually don't mind but today... anyway. Sorry to keep you waiting."

"Well, that's no problem. When they are apprenticed you can continue to call them 'kits for a moon or so," purred Rivershadow. "They really admire you, you know. The whole Clan does and... so do I," he added, blushing.
