Greengaze sat near the fresh-kill pile, a mouse between her paws. She was watching her brother, Indigoblaze, who was curled in on himself, alone as usual. He was such a soft cat. She didn't understand how he survived in ShadowClan, because as far as she'd seen, they were mostly fierce. Indigoblaze was a pushover, and he deserved whatever hazing he'd gotten when he joined ShadowClan, as Greengaze was sure he had.
Now, Yellowstripe, on the other paw, was more her style. Her younger brother was fierce and angry most of the time, even though he'd fallen in love. Her face twisted with the thought--how repulsive. When Blackgloss had died, she'd been sad for him; even she couldn't ignore the bonds of family. She'd always liked Yellowstripe more than the rest of her siblings.

"Hello, Greengaze," Lakefrost set down his catch and greeted his Clanmate. He had just returned from a hunting patrol, and Riverpaw, who had come with, placed his catch with Lakefrost's. The young tom was doing very well in his training, and had manged to catch two mice and a cardinal despite the cold weather driving the prey into hiding. Riverpaw had scuffed his paws and looked embarassed by the warrior's praise, and humbly said the cardinal's bright feathers had given it away. The brown tom glanced warily at Greengaze. He had managed to win over every cat yet due to his half-clan roots, and treaded carefully around the cats he wasn't sure of.

"Hello, Lakefrost. Riverpaw," she said, acknowledging them both. The mouse between her paws was half torn to pieces--while she'd been thinking, she'd been clawing the prey without realizing it. She frowned slightly when she saw how mangled it'd become, but took a bite to cover her tracks, slurping it down and taking another.

Riverpaw's eyes widened, spotting a shred of torn mouse, but didn't comment. He saved a piece of prey for himself and padded over to the apprentices' den to eat. Lakefrost stayed where he was, grabbing a frog and sitting a distance away from the she-cat, but close enough to chat. "You're pretty much the silent type, aren't you? Silent but thoughtful?"

Greengaze's ears swiveled to catch Lakefrost's statement, then flattened slightly against her head. "And if I am?" Her voice was wary.

"Well, it wouldn't work for me, but it seems to suit you just fine. I just was testing, seeing how well I know all my Clanmates," Lakefrost continued.

"Oh. Well, I have a question for you," she nearly growled. "What do you make of my idiot little brother over there?" She gestured in Indigoblaze's direction.

Lakefrost looked taken aback, bewilderment in his blue eyes. "Er, well, he seems uh, alright to me," he stammered. "W-why?"

Greengaze snorted. "If you have to ask, then I'm not going to explain." Her tone was cold and hostile.

Lakefrost's flattened his ears and decided to let it end there. He didn't want to sink any lower in Greengaze's eyes, nor did he want to say anything bad about Indigoblaze, for as far as he was concerned, the she-cat's sibling was a fine warrior. He took a bite and chewed quickly, almost urgently.

Greengaze looked Lakefrost up and down, sensing a new urgency within him. As if he wanted to get away from her? "What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing, I just remembered I promised to take Gingerpaw. If you'll excuse me..." he blushed a bit, as if she might judge him for hanging out with the ginger she-cat. He shook his head and scooped up the remains of his prey. "Well, this was fun. See you around, I guess?"

"Yeah, I guess," Greengaze said, giving the other warrior an odd stare.

(lol oops) "Er, bye!" mewed Lakefrost, springing to his paws and hurrying away. He felt bad for being so rude but he really didn't see eye to eye with Greengaze.
