Briarstar was sitting in his den. Just sitting there... It might have looked like he was just staring at the wall, but he had been deep in thought about something. Halopaw's voice broke into his thoughts. "Huh? Oh! Halopaw. What is is I can do for you?" He turned around, fixing his green gaze on the young medicine cat apprentice.

But I can't force you to be Aspenfeather's apprentice. If you really want to be a warrior apprentice, I need to know," he mewed seriously, gazing at her with no expressions showing. He didn't want to influence her decision.

Briarstar gasped. "Wait, Halopaw, NO!" He rushed after her, but she was already out of camp. Despite her injury, she was fast. His shoulders sagged in defeat and loss, and guilt. Some leader he was, probably the worst in Clan history.

Halopaw stopped her leg hurt more than ever but when she tried to walk back a two-leg grabbed her."Briarstar,"she called as the two-leg put her in a cage."Briar...,"she last called but couldn't fit the star in. Soon the car drove away.

Briarstar thought he heard something, and listened carefully, ears pricked, to the wind. But nothing. He sighed and turned towards the medicine cat's den. He has to tell Aspenfeather.
